MC Bhaderwah sweepers stage protest, demand payment of salaries | KNO

BHADERWAH , JAN 17 (KNO) : Municipal Committee Bhaderwah (MCB ) sweepers staged a protest and demonstration here today complaining that they had not been paid their salaries from the last four months and demanded release of their salary. Majeed Ahmed , president of the Sweepers Union , said “The sweepers and other need base works have not received their salaries from the last four months and alleged that the delay in the salary has become a routine affair. “The MC is a self-dependent body. The revenue of the MC has been increasing every day but in spite of that the salary of the employees often gets delayed owing to a paucity of funds. It has demoralized the employees. He said it is the duty of the government to pay salaries on time to its poor sweepers who maintain cleanliness . We have been facing the problem of delay in salaries for the last four years and now will not tolerate , he said .Nisar Ahmed Sheikh and Mohd Din senior leaders of the union , said, “The Class III and IV employees don’t have bank balances. The delay in salary makes it hard for them to live their life happily. The Urban Local Bodies Jammu should pay the salary without any delay.”They also said, “It has become difficult for us to pay school fee of our children and run kitchen expenses. We have been borrowing money from friends and relatives.”The sweepers’ body of Municipal Committee, has threatened to initiate an indefinite strike if their demands were not fulfilled within one week .Bal Krishan , Altaf Hussain , Sanju Kumar , Ravi Kumar , Zakir Hussain and other also spoke on the occasion and seek intervention of Dy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh for release of their pending salaries . Meanwhile Sweepers association nominated Mukhtiar Ahmed Qureshi its vice president . (KNO)
